Belgian trip-hop band Hooverphonic, neo-classical pianist Joep Beving together with cellist Maarten Vos, and US electro quintet Poliça are confirmed as the first main acts for Cross-linx 2018, which will be held on 1–4 March. Hooverphonic will be performing together with the Residentie Orkest, and Poliça will share the stage with the Stargaze ensemble. At Cross-linx, Joep Beving will join forces with cellist extraordinaire Maarten Vos. Other confirmed acts are This is the Kit, Daniel Wohl, Daniel Brandt & The Eternal Something, Brendan Faegre and Alistair Sung. Cross-linx will take place in Eindhoven, Enschede, Rotterdam and Amsterdam.
Out of the comfort zone
‘We are always looking for unique collaborations’, says festival director Frank Veenstra, ‘and the combination of Joep Beving and Maarten Vos is a good example of this. Both will step outside their comfort zone, and this is also true for Poliça and This is the Kit, who will be performing together with Stargaze.’ Hooverphonic will share the stage with the Residentie Orkest from The Hague, and perform special orchestral arrangements of their greatest hits.
Furthermore, German Daniel Brandt and and his new album The Eternal Something deserve a special mention; this recently launched solo album is full of accoustically shaped, enchanting ambient sounds.
